From the moment between being held down on the wooden board
waiting for the executioner's blade
or the fall of the guillotine
is an eternity.
A hellish torture of suspense and waiting.
From the moment between the bright lights of the station
the darkness of the tunnel
and the rushing winds and howling
to the next light of day as the train sighs-- easing out of the blackness
is an eternity.
From the ticking of the second hand till the light of dawn peeps through
the crack of a sleepless night
is an eternity.
From the last thought of my night till the new awareness of day
is.....
an eternity
A waiting
like me
waiting.
From the time between a question
and the answer
a yes or a no
is an eternity.
No
God can endure,
only his lesser creatures.
Between my carefree independence
a contented freedom and completeness
to a realization of my
lack
and incompleteness
that I need and want you,
is an eternity.
